Official: Min to present new econ forecast with coronavirus Apr 9
MOSCOW, Mar 2 (PRIME) – The Economic Development Ministry plans to present until April 9 a new version of the scenario conditions for Russia’s socio-economic development in 2020–2022, taking into account the effect of the coronavirus, Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said on Monday.
“When we were making the forecast at the end of January, ours and analysts’ forecasts said that the economy of China would start to recover at the end of the first quarter, therefore, the influence of the coronavirus on the growth rates and in general, on the economy of China, and the global economy will be quite restricted,” Reshetnikov said.
“Now, we are reassessing it. We think that we must submit new scenario conditions to the government until April 9. And we will surely make a new assessment of the effect of the external factors which we faced.”
The official added that the Russian budget system is protected from shocks and is able to fulfill the social liabilities stated in the presidential address.
